Born 27.1.1978 in London England, graduated with a first-class degree with honours in Chemistry and attained his Ph.D in Leeds University, England in 2002. Currently working at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, AV CR on the boron hydrides and their application in optics and microelectronics. Worked as a consultant with Semequip Inc. (2006-2009). In 2015 he published the discovery of the first borane laser and is currently focussed on the useful emission of light from boron hydrides. A member of the Academy’s council for the popularization of science. Author of 45 original scientific papers, has 2 contributions to books on modern boron chemistry, and one international patent. Three times winner (2002, 2003, 2004) of the Czech/Slovak young inorganic chemist award. In 2009 received the Vojtěch Náprstek Medal, in 2011 the special prize SCIAP, and in 2014 the Czech Academy of Sciences President medal for work in science popularization and education.
